Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was a speaker, investor, and businesswoman from the United States. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she founded. NRT purchased it for $66million in 2001. Corcoran later left the company. One of the show's original "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in every season of ABC's Shark Tank until now. In February 2020, Corcoran had made 53 deals, the largest being a $350,000 investment that covered 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second of 10 children in a working class Irish-Catholic family. Florence, her mother, was an excellent household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. Her father was always changing jobs during Corcoran’s life. At times, the family relied upon free food delivery from a nearby grocery store. Corcoran claims her father was a drunk who did her mother a disservice and sarcastic remarks. Corcoran was a struggle in school and was later diagnosed with dyslexia. Corcoran began the high school system at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after she had left her Catholic elementary school. After flunking several courses during her first year of high school, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School in Leonia, where she received a grade of D.
